What other secrets lie buried on the Nelson family farm—besides the bones of ancient giants?
Life is hard on the Nelson farm, but it’s about to get much harder. A father dies protecting his son, and the boy’s life is turned upside-down. He struggles to be the man his father was to build a future on the family farm, but his strict aunt and uncle seem bent on tearing everything down.
And then they discover the bones of ancient giants.
Set in Annandale, Minnesota in 1888, this is the story of a family confronted by a changing world. Grave of Songs is a powerful confluence of historical family drama, folklore, imagination, and coming-of-age storytelling.
FROM THE AUTHOR:
Grave of Songs was inspired by an old newspaper article from 1888. In that article, giant skeletons were uncovered in the Clearwater / Silver Creek area, near my hometown of Annandale, Minnesota. Giant skeletons are amazing, of course, but I wondered, How would life change for the people who discovered those giant bones?
